Emergency Plans-Help and Tips

The Importance of Emergency Plans

An emergency Plan is a strategic plan that has been developed by international agencies and organizations to deal with natural and other disasters. Emergency management is basically the coordination and organization of the various roles and responsibilities for the immediate response to all-natural and other civil hazards.

The purpose is to minimize the disastrous consequences of such events, especially disasters. It is important to prepare for possible disasters, which means gathering together information, preparing emergency action plans, training the staff, and getting assistance from people who are in a position to help.

The basic function of the emergency plan is to organize various aspects related to the emergency situation. Among the most important functions is to notify the national and local emergency responders to take action. It should contain all the necessary information and details about the hazards and emergency situations.

It should provide details about the hazards and emergencies, the key people involved, and the action plans to be taken. This will include emergency responders, such as emergency medical technicians (EMT), disaster response specialists, and construction personnel.Emergency Plans

Another major function is providing medical aid and support to the affected individuals and communities during the emergency. In addition to this, the plan should also include the procedures to be followed by the Red Cross and other organizations and authorities in order to evacuate, shelter, and care for the victims and to provide temporary relief to the victims and their communities.

In addition, the details of how and when the Red Cross would provide medical assistance should also be included in the plan. The Red Cross should coordinate with other agencies, such as the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

The Emergency Plan must also include the details of the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for disaster preparedness and response. The EOP is a comprehensive plan for the emergency operations conducted by the different components and staff of the emergency plan. It should address all the workers, who could potentially be involved in the events described in the emergency plan.

For instance, workers at the disaster response center might be involved in dealing with casualties, transporting the sick to hospitals, and providing food and water to the needy, while workers at the EOP might be called to evaluate the general conditions of the affected areas and to assess the extent of damage, and to devise emergency procedures for addressing the problems. Similarly, the specifics of any disaster preparation procedures must also be included in the emergency plan.

An emergency evacuation plan for the different categories of people normally involved in emergency situations might be created and implemented according to the following steps. First, the human resources workers and the managers of the different departments in charge of emergency activities should be designated as the heads of the departments. Next, emergency procedures should be explained to the workers so that they will know what to do under specific circumstances.

The procedures for describing the different types of emergencies and their implications should be included in the emergency evacuation plan. Then, the different types of emergencies should be categorized as critical, medium, minor, and moderate.

Critical situations include cases like flooding, earthquake, tsunami, or other major disasters. In order to deal with such emergencies, mutual aid is necessary for the form of local and international medical services. In fact, it is recommended that each region develop a joint medical coordinating committee, which will meet twice annually to discuss the existing situation and future goals of emergency preparedness.

By working with the community partners, the medical services organizations can work together on the implementation of an effective emergency plan.

Another way to deal with emergencies is by ensuring that alternate sources of communication are available, such as a radio, cell phone, and/or direct one-to-one contact. Another important part of the emergency plan is providing contact information for the hazardous conditions as well as for the alternate sources of rescue, such as the Red Cross. In the event of an outbreak, it is recommended that the community get a rapid information source, such as a community cell phone number or a message board where residents can post emergency information.

The community established radio stations are also used to transmit announcements about emergencies and special events.

In the case of disaster, people tend to give first aid, but the true scope of care required may not be evident until several hours have passed. This is why the need for emergency plans is crucial, especially during major disasters. A well-prepared community should be able to respond to emergencies rapidly and efficiently. It is vital to have a local backup for key elements of an emergency plan, such as a fire department, a Red Cross office, and a pharmacy. By being ready to respond to unexpected emergencies, communities ensure the protection of life and property and prevent further damage to infrastructure.
